Rick Egan was born in 1968 in Port Chester, New York and grew up in Madison, Connecticut outside of New Haven. Rick graduated from the University of California in Santa Cruz with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics followed by a Master of Science degree in Finance in 1998. In 2004, Rick obtained the Certified Financial Planner (CFP®) designation.
Rick entered the financial services industry in 1998 and spent a six year tenure with W.S. Griffith Advisors where he served as the Securities Coordinator and Compliance Officer overseeing 30 registered representatives throughout the San Francisco Bay Area. Rick also built a book of over 200 customers during this time providing comprehensive financial planning, investment management, and insurance services to both individuals and businesses.
In 2005, Rick moved to the Northwest and was hired by R. A. Bench, a wealth management firm headquartered in Seattle. Rick was a client relationship manager and also served as the firm’s Chief Compliance Officer (CCO) and the Financial and Operations Principal (FINOP). In 2010, Rick and fellow colleague, Rick Leonard, formed Cadence Wealth Management, LLC, a registered investment advisory and insurance services firm.
In his spare time, Rick is an avid tennis player, skier, and outdoor enthusiast. He has two boys ages 12 and 14. He is supportive of several charitable and civic organizations including ChildFund International, Northwest School for Deaf and Hard of Hearing Children, the Pacific Place Market Foundation, and Environment Washington.
Kari began her career at Russell Investments (then, Frank Russell Company) in 1989 where she held client service and operations positions at Frank Russell Securities and Frank Russell Trust Company.
In 1997, Kari joined RA Bench and managed the firm’s qualified plan business until 2010. She was responsible for developing and managing the investment due diligence process, including provider selection and reviews, investment selection and monitoring, investment policy statement design, trustee/investment committee meetings, and participant education.
After RA Bench was sold to Kibble and Prentice/USI, Kari formed KM Asset Solutions, a registered investment advisory firm, in 2011. KM Asset Solutions was formed to provide investment advisory services to plan sponsors of qualified retirement plans. That business was merged into Cadence Wealth Management, LLC in 2012, where Kari continues to serve as an Investment Advisor Representative and manage the firm’s qualified plan business. Kari also manages the qualified plan business and client relationships at Pillar International Insurance Advisors, LLC, a Seattle-based independent insurance and benefit plan advisory firm.
In addition, through KM Asset Solutions, Kari conducts operational due diligence reviews of traditional and alternative investment managers and pooled funds for a large financial services firm.
Kari graduated from Pepperdine University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration followed by a Master of Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Notre Dame. Kari and her family live in Gig Harbor, WA.
Andrew began his finance career in 2012 after graduating W.P. Carrey School of Business at Arizona State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2011. He started at Merrill Lynch as a Financial Advisor and specialized in retirement planning and building portfolios that follow the Modern Portfolio Theory strategy.
Andrew has also worked for Vanguard in the high net worth Flagship department helping clients understand portfolio allocation and diversification.
For fun Andrew likes to play basketball, football, bike ride and scuba dive. He has traveled to 28 countries and hopes to one day see many more.
